Mount Dora Community Trust

The Mount Dora Community Trust is a nonprofit organization established in 1972 to help our community. The First National Bank of Mount Dora serves as Trustee of funds that are donated to support education, community activities and charitable organizations.

A convenient and effective way to give back to Mount Dora, the Trust simplifies the creation of philanthropic trusts and manages funds for the benefit of the community.

Established by one far-sighted donor in 1972, the Trust now administers contributions from scores of donors that benefit hundreds of local residents and causes.

One prominent recent project funded by the Trust was the restoration of the historic Mount Dora railroad station which houses the offices of the Chamber of Commerce. The station was built by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1915 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Once one of Mount Dora's primary lifelines, the building continues to serve the community through the work of the local Chamber.

Funds from the Trust have helped support the Community Building, the Mount Dora Music Festival, the Mount Dora Historical Society, the Center for the Arts, the Mount Dora Library, animal shelters and dozens of other causes.

The Trust supports education through grants to local elementary and secondary schools and through an extensive scholarship program that helps local students obtain a college degree. Many of these students have returned to Mount Dora after graduation to serve the community as nurses, doctors, first responders and business professionals.

The range of causes supported by the Trust is as wide as the interests of its donors, from providing food and shelter to abused women and children, to providing homes for abandoned animals to improving community parks and cultural facilities to funding community celebrations.
